FTP Clients
- FTP Voyager
- Nice graphical drag-n-drop interface.
- LeechFTP
- Not the nicest interface in the world, but it does support the ability to limit the bandwidth used when transfering files.
- ReGet
- FTP manager - keeps trying to download files, automatically restarts if errors. Also can speed up download time by downloading multiple pieces of the same file simultaneously from multiple connections.
- NetVampire
- Another FTP client which will keep trying to download specified files until it succeeds or you tell it to give up.
Music / mp3
- CDex
- Extracts audio tracks from a CD. Works with most newer CD-ROM drives. Can create .wav or .mp3 files.

- Good source of mp3 songs, players and general information
- WinAmp
- mp3 player for Windows
UNIX for Win32
- UNIX for Windows
- "Provides a mechanism for building and running UNIX applications on Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, and Windows 95 with few, if any, changes necessary." Does this by providing ksh (the project is headed by David Korn) and other tools, as well as the common UNIX API for development.
- NT Shell
- An alternative to the DOS-box or Command Prompt provided by Windows. (Warning: This site may cause some browsers to hang.)

- A few useful unix-originating utilities for Windows.
Text / Programming Editors
- GNU Emacs for Windows
- The traditionally UNIX text editor, ported to Windows. Works just like the X-Windows-based version of the UNIX port (not XEmacs, but the X-Windows version of GNU Emacs). This site also includes a FAQ.
- XMLSpy
- XML editor with well-formedness validation and schema editing and validation.
- SlickEdit
- Nice, general-purpose programmer's editor, with some IDE features also built in.

- Systems Internals

- xearth for Windows
- Similar to the unix X-Windows equivalent, this Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000/XP utility sets the background to a map of the Earth, shifting as the local clock changes to show the Earth's rotation
- PuTTY
- Freeware Win32 Telnet/SSH client
- X-Setup
- Sort of similar to TweakUI, but with some additional capabilities
